Driving a Sonderklasse is nearly a cult.

Luxury above performance, that is my premise.

This is the number one reason that the Mercedes-Benz 300SE (W126) is my dream car par excellence. The W126 series is convincing, even today, with excellent workmanship and the best quality materials. The "quiet living room on wheels" is a near reality. These impressions are only a fraction of the perfect automotive technology of a Mercedes-Benz. But the S-Class, as it is referred to, has many. Inconspicuous at first, the S-Class contains sophisticated subtleties that make driving this vehicle as comfortable and trouble-free as possible.

To name only a few examples, the coolant heated windshield washer tank, the heated water nozzles, the heated area just below the windshield wiper (this way the moved snow is melting), outside mirrors which will be heated automatically at 3C, the even interior temperature control through hidden fans and temperature control sensors, the reduction of driving noise through a great number of rubber components between chassis and body, and many more.

Such hidden subtleties makes the Mercedes-Benz Sonderklasse W126 special. These only prove that I made the right choice.

Technical details about the M103

The Mercedes-Benz M103 is a straight-6 15 degrees, inclination to the right, engine. It is a single overhead cam design with 2 valves per cylinder. The 103.981 engine 3.0 L; 2,960 cc with catalyst produces 180 PS/DIN (132 kw) at 5700 rpm and has a torque of 255 NM at 4400 rpm. It uses a electronic continuous injection system and has a bore and a stroke of 88.5 mm 80.2 mm. The compression ratio is 9.2:1 with a maximum of 6200 rpm. The firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Number of valves is 1 intake, 1 exhaust with V-shaped overhead configuration. Valve operation is 1 top camshaft and the drive is a simple roller-type chain. The M103 uses an electronic ignition system. The recommended fuel for catalytic system is unleaded fuel with an octane level of 95 RON/85 MON.
